Outgrowing Your Space This Spring? You’re Not Alone, Mama 🤍

There’s something about spring that makes everything feel… louder. The clutter, the chaos, the constant stuff.

As a mom of three, I can tell you—there comes a point where it’s not just about toys on the floor or backpacks piling up by the door. It’s the feeling that your home just isn’t working for you anymore. You’re constantly rotating bins, stuffing closets, and wondering how you ran out of space again.

If you’ve caught yourself thinking, “We might need more room…”—you’re not crazy, and you’re definitely not alone. Spring has a funny way of giving us that fresh-start energy, and sometimes that means realizing it might be time to upsize.

But before you spiral into overwhelm (because I’ve been there), here are three things I always tell my clients—and remind myself of too:

1. Get Clear on What’s Not Working (Not Just “We Need More Space”)

It’s easy to say you’ve outgrown your home, but let’s dig a little deeper.

Is it the lack of storage?
No playroom?
Too few bedrooms?
Kitchen always overflowing?

When you can pinpoint what’s actually causing the daily stress, it becomes so much easier to find a home that truly fixes those pain points—not just delays them.

Because more square footage isn’t always the answer… better-functioning space is.

2. Don’t Wait Until You’re Completely Maxed Out

I see this all the time—families wait until they are beyond overwhelmed before making a move. At that point, everything feels urgent, rushed, and honestly… more stressful than it needs to be.

Spring is actually one of the best times to start exploring your options. Inventory picks up, the weather is easier for showings (with kids in tow!), and you can move on your own timeline instead of out of desperation.

Even if you’re “just thinking about it,” starting the conversation early gives you so much more control.

3. Think About Your Next 3–5 Years, Not Just Right Now

This is a big one, especially with growing kids.

What works today might not work a year from now. The toddler becomes a big kid, the baby needs their own room, and suddenly everyone needs space to just be.

When upsizing, I always encourage moms to think ahead:
👉 Will this home still work as the kids grow?
👉 Is there space for routines, quiet, and storage (so much storage 😅)?
👉 Can this home support the life you’re building—not just the one you’re managing today?

At the end of the day, this isn’t just about square footage—it’s about creating a home that feels calmer, more functional, and supportive of your everyday life.

You deserve a space where you’re not constantly feeling behind, overwhelmed, or out of room.

If this has been on your heart lately, take it as your sign to start exploring. No pressure, no big leaps—just a conversation about what could be better.

Because sometimes the next chapter starts with a little more space… and a lot more breathing room.
